Importance of Style

 To attract readers to a blog there are ways to help attract more than others.  A clean, clear and good looking presentation of the blog.  If a blog is cluttered and hard to read rarely anyone will stop to read what is to be said.  In my blog I tried to make it less dark and customize it completely.  I designed it to my liking, but as I have more posts the better I will design the blog.  For my blog I wanted to make it lighter, but still relative to me and my interests.  Rosenweig's reading Designing for the History of the Web, bloggers are foreign to the idea of designing a blog, but they are able to put so much information into their posts.  “Beauty is no quality in things themselves: It exists merely in the mind which contemplates them; and each mind perceives a different beauty” (Rosenweig).  People perceive things differently, one of those things is beauty of different things.  One might see dark as beautiful and another might see light as beautiful.  A blog should be aesthetically pleasing.

Multi-Talented Blog

The blog is not just used for the purpose of someone posting their opinion on a topic or to inform someone on a specific topic that they may be interested in.  A blog could also be used as a website such as WW1: Experiences of an English Soldier This is about an English Soldier in WW1 and it gives you information like a website and is set up like one.  They could also be used as a combination of a website and a blog.  I am using my blog as a blog, not a website.  I followed American Historical Association and National Park Service on Twitter.  I followed National Park Service because I love hiking and have an being out in nature.  I followed American Historical Association because they keep updated on almost anything happening in the world, like COVID-19.  I do not follow what happens on the news and following them I think will be informative and cool to see what they post about.  They are also the oldest professional historical association.  It is also a nonprofit association.  The National Park Service posts about all the national parks in different states, posting different pictures and descriptions of the different parks.  It makes me want to visit all the national parks.  I also followed Dan Cohen.  He is a blogger and journalist. Rosenzweig’s Introduction review

 While reading the introduction of digital history it made me realize this is a different take on what I thought learning about digital history would be.  I thought it was going to be about the making of videos and movies.  Rosenzweig uses a lot of quotes to back up what he is writing.  I have not seen that in many books.  It was a little confusing to read, but informational.  He made a point of paper books being scanned into computers for online using.  Although that is an efficient way to preserve books, many young people now do not read physical books or read in general.  One of the cons of digitizing everything to me is you can not highlight important information and you are not engaged with other people as much (referring to phones).  While the advancement of technology also has its perks; having email instead of snail mail, video calls etc.  Computers also help with doing homework and learning something you may not have a physical book for.  Rosenzweig also points out how school is affected with technology.  It has both negatives and positives.  Rosenzweig has great points about the history of technology and helps you learn there’s a lot of thought to go into something that we have access to everyday and do not think about it.  Compared to 10 years ago we are so advanced in our technology.
